ST. PAULS — Sanderson Farms will close its processing plant in St. Pauls on Friday because of electrical issues encountered today, and employees are being asked not to come to work.
According to spokesperson Kimberly White, the plant may operate on Saturday for first shift employees only. Employees are asked to call the plant at 910-274-0220 after 10 a.m. on Friday for information about plant operations for Saturday.
Normal plant operations will resume on Monday and all employees should report to work at their normal times.
The Sanderson Farms chicken processing plant on N.C. 20 just west of St. Pauls began full operations on Jan. 10. The plant employs around 1,000 people.
