LUMBERTON — A Shannon woman was killed Friday when her vehicle crossed the center-line on Shannon Road and struck another car head-on, according to the state Highway Patrol. A second person was seriously injured.

Ashley Stickney was 32 year olds. The 7:40 a.m. accident occurred on Shannon Road near McDuffie Crossing Road about five miles north of Lumberton.

According to a report by Trooper S.C. Hunt, Stickney was traveling north on Shannon Road when her 2009 Saturn passenger car crossed the center-line and collided with a 2003 Chevrolet truck driven by 35-year-old Guadalupe Hernandez.

Hernandez, 35, of Coree Street, Lumberton, was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, the report said. She was charged with driving without a license and with not wearing a seat belt.

Hunt’s report listed no contributing factors for the wreck besides Stickney driving left of center.

No one else was in either of the two vehicles.
