LUMBERTON — Public Schools of Robeson County administrators recently honored volunteers for the work they contributed throughout the school year.
Volunteers donated more than 51,000 hours to the county’s school during the 2016-17 academic year. More than 1,500 volunteers gave of their time to support the students.
The district’s top three volunteers are Wayne Swett, Pembroke Elementary, first place; Ashley Strickland R.B. Dean Elementary, second place; and Alice Wilkerson, R.B. Dean, third place.
The school with the top percentile of volunteers was Rosenwald Elementary School.
The School Bell Award went to Long Branch and Tanglewood elementary schools and Orrum Middle School. The Above and Beyond Award went to West Lumberton Elementary and Caroll Middle schools.
