Both the Red Devils and Lady Red Devils track teams finished in third place in the Southeastern 1-A/2-A Conference Championship.
The meet was held at Fairmont High School on Thursday with the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs of St. Pauls High capturing both championships.
In the boys meet, St. Pauls chalked up 226.5 points to blister runner-up South Robeson. The Mustangs scored 127.5 points, followed by Red Springs 83, West Bladen 61.5, Fairmont 31, East Bladen 10.5, and West Columbus 10.
In field events, Red Springs’ senior Kyle Graham captured first place in the long jump with a jump of 22-feet, 2-inches. In the track events, teammate Dakwon Haywood won the 400m-dash in a time of 53:48, while the Red Springs boys’ 1,600m relay team won in a time of 3:45.80.
David P. Shaw was named the boys’ Meet Most Valuable Player and St. Pauls coach, David Shaw, was named SEC Coach of the Year.
On the girls side, St. Pauls won with a total point total of 233, with South Robeson in second place with 81 points, followed the Lady Red Devils 73, West Columbus 27, Fairmont 19 and East Bladen 16.
There were no first place finishes by any Lady Red Devil.
Brittany Sinclair of St. Pauls was named the meets’ Most Valuable Player and David Shaw took SEC Coach of the Year honors.
