All-Southeastern Conference spring sports selections released

All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selections have been released in baseball, golf, tennis and softball.

In Baseball, from Red Springs High School, Brandon Klingenschmidt has been named to the first team, followed by teammate Glenn Patterson on the second team. SEC Co-Players of the Year were Nathan Long of West Columbus and Michael Bass of Fairmont. SEC Co-Coaches of the Year were Ricky Young of West Columbus and Sandy Thorndyke of Fairmont. West Columbus and Fairmont share the SEC baseball title with identical 9-3 records. The Red Devils finished in sixth place with a 2-10 SEC record and 8-14 overall. In golf, the Red Devils finished in third place in the SEC. Receiving Honorable Mention from Red Springs is Michael Oxendine and Jordan Henry. SEC Player of the Year is Tyler Britt of East Bladen and SEC Coach of the Year is Junior Nance of SEC Champion West Bladen.

Tashira Patterson was the lone SEC All-Conference player from the Lady Red Devils in softball. Red Springs finished in seventh place in the SEC standings with a 1-11 record and 5-14 overall.

West Bladen was SEC champs with SEC Player of the Year Hillary Jones and SEC Coach of the Year Andy Clark, both coming from West Bladen.

In SEC Tennis play, West Columbus won the title with Red Springs finishes in seventh place with a 0-10 record.

Making All-SEC in tennis from Red Springs is Kyle Graham.

SEC Player of the Year is Ethan Caldell of St. Pauls and SEC Coach of the Year is Jeff Kinlaw, coach of the SEC Champions West Columbus. Caldell was Singles SEC Conference Champion and Brandon McDonald/Juwan Addison, both of Fairmont, were named Doubles SEC Champion.
