Robert Lee Oxendine, 71, of Henry Berry Road, Rowland, died July 23, 2009,at his home.

A graveside service took place on Sunday at Oxendine Cemetery on Oak Grove Church Road, Lumberton, the Rev. Earl Chavis officiated. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sarah Oxendine of the home; sons, Robbie Dale Oxendine and wife Kathy, both of Lumberton, Glenndale Oxendine and wife Linda, both of Pembroke, Anthony Oxendine

and friend Shelia Hardin, both of Rowland, Korey Oxendine and special friend, Triska Blue; daughters, Demetrice Atkisson and husband Ronnie Atkisson, and Patricia Chavis, all of Rowland, Judy Locklear and friend Micheal Ray Oxendine, both of Red Springs; a brother, James Gordon Oxendine Jr. of Pembroke, three sisters, Betty Locklear of Red Springs, Alene Locklear of St. Pauls, Alethea Tyner of Rowland; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Hudell Chavis of Pembroke and Ellen Oxendine of Lumberton.
