Dear Editor:

I read with great amusement the message in last week’s edition of the Red springs Citizen submitted by a group referring to themselves as Citizen’s for “Take Back Our Town”. The message was pertaining to a policy of the Town of Red Springs allowing certain employees to take City Vehicles home.

What was it I found amusing? Well, the admonishment from the group that the Town needs to be taken back, and the way to do that is by supporting John McNeil for Mayor. Why is this amusing? It’s amusing because many employees were already allowed to take their city vehicles home when my husband, the former Town Manager, came to work here. So what’s so amusing about that? Just that the Town Manager and Interim Town Manager serving prior to my husband were and are strongly supported by the same John McNeil… and would have had to have been the final authority authorizing City Vehicles to be driven home… unless the Board can find it I their minutes where they authorized this policy. Either way, it ties right back to the very same man the Citizens for “Taking Back Our Town” are heralding as the answer to taking back their Town. I find that very naïve…and amusing!
