Dora Frances Chavis, 80, of Lindsey Lane, Shannon, died March 10, 2010, in her home.

The funeral was on Sunday at Friendly Temple Baptist Church, Shannon, the Revs. Rocky Williamson, Hulon Chavis and Bro. Earl Jones officiated. Entombment followed in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Herbert Chavis; her parents, William Foster and Rilla Jane Locklear; a son, Larry Chavis; two grandsons, Brian K. Chavis and Shawn Price Chavis; and a granddaughter, Christina Valderramos.

She is survived by three sons, the Rev. Eugene Chavis, Herbert Chavis Jr., and Faron Chavis, all of Shannon; four daughters, Bonnie C. McMillian and Vivian Locklear, both of Shannon, Joyce Chavis Pevia of Raleigh, and Jeanette Valderramos of Pine Bluff; a sister, Margan Clark of Maxton; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
