Registration is now open for the 2010 Autism Society of North Carolina Annual Conference. This year’s program features current findings on autism that are relevant across the lifespan. The conference, which is the largest annual autism gathering in the state, will be held April 23-24 at the Sheraton Chapel Hill.

The Autism Society of North Carolina will host nationally recognized experts addressing critical topics for autism professionals, educators, and family members. Dr. Aubyn Stahmer , a well known and widely published researcher on early intervention, will outline the processes for developing quality community-based early intervention programs for young children. Chantal Sicile-Kira, the author of Autism Life Skills and Adolescents on the Autism Spectrum, will share practical tips on preparing for employment and long-term living options based on a teenager’s abilities and interests.

In addition to the keynote addresses, in-depth panel discussions will examine the state of North Carolina services for both early intervention and transitions to adulthood.

A pre-conference workshop on teaching social interaction skills will also be taught by Dr. Scott Bellini, the Assistant Director of the Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA).

Attendees who register online by March 26 will receive a $15 discount on all events. In addition, the Sheraton Chapel Hill is offering discounted room rates on all reservations made by March 26.
