The funeral was on Friday at Living Waters Baptist Church in Maxton. Burial followed in the Chavis family cemetery in Maxton.
Surviving are his wife, Candice Chavis of the home; three daughters, Karla Chavis of Kings Mountain, Athena Bryant and Ashley Chavis, both of the home; two sons, Robert Chavis of Charlotte and Jessie Chavis of Kings Mountain; his mother, Betty Chavis of Maxton; three sisters, Jennifer Johnson of Maxton, Janet Gibson of Charlotte and Roberta Clark of Red Springs; a brother, Chris Chavis of Mount Holly; and a grandchild.
